Shopper’s Diary: Hay House in Copenhagen
Last spring I spent a few days in Copenhagen; the shopping highlight? Hay House, located on two floors of a grand building in central Copenhagen. The experience feels more like a visit to a friends chic apartment than a conventional shop stop-in; the loft-like interior is anchored by an antique staircase imported from England and features a mix of pieces from Hays own line of Danish-design pieces with items from other European designers: Paris-based Astier de Villatte, Swedens Iris Hantverk, and Hollands Scholten & Baijings. Founded in 2003 by Rolf and Mette Hay and Troels Holch Povlsen, Hay aspires to “encourage Danish furniture design’s return to the innovative greatness of the 1950s and 1960s, but in a contemporary context.” Go to Hay for more information.
