Inspector Profile: Paul A.Tooley

Posted by Blake Stoate under Home Improvement Information

Every day, hundreds of homes are inspected across the country by our employee inspectors.  We want to recognize the work they do and allow you to get to know the team of dedicated U.S. Inspect Building Consultants you may meet on your inspection. Today, we’d like to introduce Paul Tooley, an inspector on our Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina team.

Tell us what you like most about being a home inspector?  “I really enjoy looking at houses. As strange as it may sound, I enjoy the attics and crawl spaces the most. Years in the infantry helps, and besides, they are potentially the most fun/exciting.”

What do you do when you’re not in an attic or crawlspace? “Dream of things like bushcrafting, camping, and blacksmithing.  Sometimes, flying kites and playing Yahtzee. Mostly though, I try to spend my free time with my wife and family.”

Who inspires you most in life? “My wife and children.  I don’t work, they don’t eat……or something like that.”

What’s your favorite quote, favorite music, or favorite activity? “My favorite quote is “Never fail to tell the truth. If truthful, you will get your reward. You will get your punishment if you deceive.” My favorite music is groups like Rush, Skillet, and Bach. My favorite activity would be doing just about any kind of blacksmithing. I have been volunteering at the on-site blacksmith shop at the North Carolina State Fair for the past four years.”

Do you have any dislikes you’d want to share? I have this slight aversion to cell phones and “crackberries”! Sometimes you just shouldn’t be connected. Red pill or blue pill?”

Paul has been with U.S. Inspect since 1995. He is one of our many blog authors. You can check out his blog . Paul received U.S.Inspect’s Building Consultant Of The Year award in 2006 and is a recipient of U.S. Inspect Chairman’s award!  Quite an honor!  He served nine years in the Virginia Army National Guard as a Combat Engineer. Paul, thanks you for your service.  We’re fortunate to have you at U.S. inspect.
